For the last few months I have been working like a dog to try to get a large body of work that would represent me in an exhibition in November at the Elliott Fouts Gallery.
I have been able to post a few paintings on ebay but because my effort has been on the show I have not sold many paintings on ebay. I intend to do some smaller pieces this month.
In my latest venture, this large canvas of an old Quaker Oats Can with a vintage scooper (found in an antique store) was the largest painting I have ever painted (30" x 40"). It was a challenge. I really enjoyed painting this and hope to do another large piece later this Spring. The Quaker Oats dude is a figure that goes back many years. My wife's grandmother lived to 103 and ate oatmeal for her entire life. Oatmeal in my house hold as a child was very popular with my Dad - I wasn't crazy about it but I still ate it (I added lots of sugar!).
The painting took many days to paint because of the extensive amount of layers and drying time needed. The enormous size is very different when viewed in person. The face is huge and really interesting to few in person because of the technique used. The other challenge was photographing this painting. I was unable to get the angles right. It was tough. Hope you enjoy it.
