Nectarine-Still Life Oil Painting

This composition of a nectarine slices in a aluminum bowl is a whirlpool of reflections and colors. When I first decided to paint this, I was intrigued but the distorted colors and imagery caused by the bowl. The play of light, angles and texture makes this piece one of my favorites. I bought a bunch of nectarines and plums last week while they were still on sale at a local fruit market.

Such a beautiful painting, Vic! The fruit looks luscious... are you making pie or fruit salad?

Thanks Diana. I love pie but a fruit salad sounds good to me.

vic, I swear I could reach in and grab a slice .... and the scratches on the bowl are a wonderful touch -- (looks like my favorite mixing bowl:) Incredible artwork.
