My wife and I went antique shopping when we came across a small number of vintage canisters such as this one of an animal cracker container. I have to admit, I like to eat animal crackers with my oatmeal for breakfast - I guess something's you never out grow.
This still life composition consist of three chrome canisters and a very retro red scale. This painting is part of my still life series of kitchen appliances.
This composition consist of an antique milk/creamer that my wife inherited from her Grandmother. We finally had a sunny day this past week when my wife and I sat down for coffee and notice the sunlight shinning through on the table top. The strong shadows and cool tones plays an interesting and dynamic composition.
This very different and almost abstract painting is a very close composition of a blender. The old blender with its chrome surface and very retro handle takes on an almost surreal and abstract design. I used all sorts of colors to develop this design.
This very cool tone and some what dark composition comprises of a coffee cup and creamer. The reflections in this painting play a crucial role in the design.
This painting takes me back to many years ago when this very retro blender was a common appliance in many American kitchens. I tried to capture the colors and design of the early 60's. The texture of the wall, the compositional angle and the warm tones are all meant to capture the feeling of this appliance in a this very retro painting.
This painting is of a retro yellow cake mixer. I am continuing my series on painting retro/ vintage appliances. This yellow mixer is a dynamic piece with its strong yellows and warm tones.
