This is a rare large painting on panel 10" x 27" (for me). Here I decided to tackle three images in this trio still life: Eggs - sunny side up, Toast with jam and pancakes. A breakfast to satisfy all.SOLD
Original still life, figurative and landscape paintings from award winning artist Vic Vicini. Realism art focusing on retro Diner landscape and interior settings. Major focus is on high reflective objects. From figurative to landscape to high realism still life.
This still life of a sugar dispenser was part of my small series of Diner subjects. I've painted a series of these styles paintings throughout the past few months and had put this painting aside. I decided to finally finish it and complete the series.
I guess my breakfast kick has moved over to waffles. This contemporary painting of a waffle and blueberries is still part of my on going obsession with breakfast themes. I wanted to play around with the texture and design of the waffles - especially the little square sections.
In the last few months I've been playing around with a little different subject matter than what I normally paint. Those images of high reflective and chrome surfaces have given way to gloss and shine of food. I have not abandoned them but simply have given them a rest. In a way, there really isn't all that much difference to the normal viewer with this so-called change. But to me, it is dramatically different. I find the subject very free and enjoyable to paint.
This week I guess I have become fascinated with eggs (yolk in this case). I never thought that something that we take for granted as simple as an egg could be so fascinating. Years ago I would never imagine that a subject such as an egg could be used as an art form. The colors, reflective and translucent nature of the bubbles plays right into my wheel house. Hope you enjoy it.
