This is the forth painting in my latest project. This camera belongs to my Father-in-law. I just love those old vintage cameras. The surface on this painting is really neat. I don't think the photo serves it justice. This is oil on canvas 14" x 18". I am preparing for a possible new show next year. This painting will be part of that exhibition.

I've not posted many paintings in the past few weeks because I have started a new body of work that I am pretty excited about. The paintings are much larger and the technique is very expressive for me. I hope to complete around 15 to 20 pieces and hopefully get a chance to exhibit them. Periodically, I will post a few to give you a glimpse.

A few weeks back I was channel surfing and came across 'Lost in Space'. I remember how much I used to love that show as a kid. After watching that for a few minutes I thought it would be fun to add a Robot to one of my crate paintings. So here it is....lol

My wife's Grandmother who passed away some years ago at the age of 102 left us this letter scale. I found it so different and unique. My wife and her Grandmother shared many letters when she was a child. She loved to visit her Grandmother's farm in Ohio. The farm has since been sold. Our family misses her and her little farm land in Findlay Ohio.

This is my second Cigar box painting. This Mohawk Cigar box was really cool to paint. Just love to use those vibrant rich tones.

When my daughter was born many years ago my first drawing I did for her was a silk screen t-shirt of Betty Boop. I'll never forget the tiny little shirt with the face of Betty Boop on the front.
Since then, I've painted several different versions of Betty Boop and have enjoyed them all. They are a classic glimpse of the past.Oil on wood 7" x 7" Gallery Wrapped.

Gold Leaf and oil painting. I incorporated an additional twist to my gold leaf painting.
I went back to one of my favorite mediums - egg tempera. This painting incorporates several different techniques that really are not visible in this photo. I used the egg tempera for the texture, oil and impasto for the shell. I painted in egg tempera for years before putting it aside for more forgiving medium of oil. I admired the work of Andrew Wyeth and Robert Vickrey. I guess I am old school at heart.
I painted several of these types of paintings which I hope to display in the coming days.
You have to the love the Summer with all the carnivals and fairs that are coming. Fun! We need it.

I really enjoyed this composition and subject matter. I realize it probably is a little heavy but I just went crazy with the various tones of grays, crimson, greens and blues.

I guess I couldn't get enough of these classic car fins. It has been awhile since I painted these types of paintings. They are so much fun. What is great about painting these small 4" x 4" paintings is that I can paint many of them - I can't get enough!

Well, it actually happened. A bozo like me was given an opportunity from a Gallery owner who believed in me and who stayed with me even in tough times. Elliott Fouts, the owner of Elliott Fouts Gallery, hung my show this weekend and it is now open. The opening reception is February 14th. Elliott was kind enough to take a couple of pictures of the Gallery (as you can see). I have another one that I will post tomorrow and I hope to have more from the opening.I want to thank everyone who has written to me and who has wished me the best. I really appreciate all your emails and support.

A number of years ago I was greatly influenced by the work of Andrew Wyeth (who's death is a great loss) and Robert Vickrey. I experimented for several years with egg tempera and gold leaf. In addition, the early Religious paintings of the 13th and 14th century have always been one part of history that fascinated me. I enjoyed the gold leaf and the art of egg tempera with the use of cross hatching. Andrew Wyeth practice this technique as did Robert Vickrey (who I met at an opening in Michigan a number of years ago).
Having said that, I started a small series called 'ICONS' (small 4" x 4" on wood) that illustrate some of these fascinating and intriguing religious icons and figures. My paintings are not done in tempera but in oil. I use 23 k gold leaf with wood engraving. The subject is very different for me and I suspect that I will get some interesting feedback. The paintings are not intended to be religious (far from it). I know this is not my normal still life paintings but I plan on only doing a small number of series. I have provided the Elliott Fouts Gallery these paintings and they are available through his Gallery only for a limited time. This painting is 12 x 27 on canvas. These packages of puddling mixes date back to the 1960's. This will be on exhibit and available starting February.

Along with these paintings, I will be exhibiting my small series of paintings called "4 x 4". These small paintings are perhaps my favorite and more intimate pieces. I feel like I am creating something personal and close to me to share. Many of these paintings are paintings of marbles, tea sets, flowers and a variety of subjects. I am debating on expanding my subject to portraits and landscapes. Whatever the case, these little paintings are fun to create.
